The Taproot Foundation is seeking a charismatic, outgoing, high-energy volunteer recruiter to join our team. As the most active member in our recruiting process, you will interview senior industry executives and interact with all members of our organization including board members. Due to our rapid growth, we anticipate significant promotion potential for this entry-level role, and will hire with this potential in mind.
Former Yale TE Nate Lawrie '04 was activated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Dec. 15, bringing the total number of Bulldogs playing in the NFL to three. RB Chris Hetherington '95 was signed by the Oakland Raiders a week earlier, and TE Eric Johnson '01 has been with the San Francisco 49ers all season.
Lawrie, who owns all the Yale tight end receiving records (116 career, 72 season, 16 game), was drafted in the sixth round by Tampa Bay last spring and then bounced between the Bucs and the Eagles before landing on Tampa Bay's practice squad. He was activated when another Bucs TE, Will Heller, went down with an injury.
Hetherington, a ninth-year pro who has been with five different NFL teams since 1996, was Yale's starting QB in 1994 and 1995 before becoming a running back as a pro.
Johnson, a seventh-round pick by Bill Walsh and the Niners who was featured in many major newspapers and TV stations across the country earlier this season, led the NFL in catches this fall through the first six weeks while playing with a broken finger and a broken rib. Understandably, his numbers have dropped off in recent weeks and he is currently 16th in the league with 69 catches for 707 yards and two scores.
Several members of Yale's current graduating class, including WR Ralph Plumb, OT Rory Hennessey, QB Alvin Cowan, RB Robert Carr and DB Barton Simmons, are pro prospects.
In addition to those playing in the NFL, there is also one Bulldog coaching in the NFL -- Dick Jauron '73 is the Detroit Lions' offensive coordinator.
Dear Yale alumni, This spring term, Yale University is premiering an undergraduate publication whose presence has so far rather conspicuously been missing: an interdisciplinary scholarly magazine. Titled ‘Symposium,’ our publication is an academic journal, loosely modeled on the Yale Journal of Criticism, that will print the best student work from a variety of humanities-based disciplines. Working in conjunction with multiple Yale faculties, we aim to have each issue contain a balance of essays from the perspectives of literature, philosophy, political science, and cultural study. As Symposium looks ahead to the production, we are looking for any sponsors who may be interested in our organization. If any members of the Yale Alumni Association of Metropolitan New York would consider joining one of our sponsors’ circles, your support would be invaluable to the magazine. In addition to receiving proper recognition in the publication, all donors will of course be mailed as many copies of the magazine as they request. If you are interested or if you have any further questions about Symposium, please contact Anna Lvovsky at

I'm currently a sophomore at Yale, planning to intern in Manhattan over the summer with two literary agencies and the Columbia University Press. I'm neat, quiet, and currently live in a suite with six other girls, so I definitely have experience sharing space. I would love to find a room from May 29th to August 6th, in some location with an easy commute midtown.
